UCF Tops Baseball Sunday to Complete Sweep

ORLANDO, Fla. — The baseball team surrendered three runs in the first inning and seven more in the fourth en route to a 16-0 loss to UCF on Sunday at Jay Bergman Field. The Knights swept the three-game series, dropping the Big Red to 6-7 on the year.
 
UCF (15-11) chased the Big Red's starter in building a three-run lead in the first inning, then broke the game open with Eli Putnam's three-run homer in the fourth. Putnam was 4-for-5 with seven RBIs on the day for UCF.
 
Cornell had five singles against six UCF pitchers. Senior Marlon Rainville and sophomore Griffin Tutun each made their debuts for the Big Red as reserves.
 
The Big Red's second Sunshine State trip of the season shifts to Winter Haven for games at 6 p.m. Tuesday and 6 p.m. Wednesday at Rollins.
