Joey Coffy scored a career-high four goals as No. 20 Cornell women's lacrosse upset No. 10/12 Penn State, 10-7, in University Park on Wednesday afternoon. The victory marks just the third time in series history the Big Red has come away with the win.

Renee Poullott made eight saves and moved into sole possession of second place all-time at Cornell with 24 career wins.
Madison Cyr had three goals to lead the Lions, who jumped out to an early 5-2 lead, before Cornell netted six unanswered goals.
Penn State (9-4) took an early 1-0 lead on a Katie O'Donnell strike, but Coffy knotted the score at one on a free-position shot, marking the fourth time this season Coffy was responsible for Cornell's first goal of the game. The Nittany Lions answered just 36 seconds later to regain the lead. Penn State leading scorer Madison Cyr added a pair to put the Lions up 4-1 with 18:43 left in the half.
Coffy added her second of the day 1:17 later to cut the deficit back to two, but Penn State won the resulting draw and pushed the lead to three once again.
The Big Red then put together a four-goal run to take a 6-5 lead into halftime. Junior
Kristy Gilbert scored with 15:05 remaining in the first to make it 5-3, and sophomore
Taylor Reed added her 10
th of the season to bring Cornell back within one. After Penn State had taken a timeout, junior
Catherine Ellis corralled the draw control. Coffy then completed the hat trick to even the score at five with 7:27 to go in the half before adding her fourth 36 seconds later to earn Cornell's first lead of the day.
Cornell stayed in control as the second half opened, winning the first draw, getting a shot off and causing a turnover to get the ball back. Senior
Olivia Mattyasovszky capitalized on the momentum, netting her team-leading 20
th goal of the season. Ellis, who picked up the assist on Mattyasovszky's goal, scored her own to put Cornell up 8-5 with 24:22 to go.
Cyr tacked on her third of the day to bring the Lions back within two, but junior
Amie Dickson's free-position goal gave Cornell a 9-6 lead, and Reed added her second of the day on a feed from Gilbert to give the Big Red a four-goal advantage.
With 6:19 to go, Steph Lazo got one back for the Lions, who had the opportunity to capitalize on a man-up opportunity with about five minutes to go, but Cornell held them off to preserve the win.
The Big Red will travel to No. 11 Princeton on Saturday as the Ivy League's two undefeated teams square off at noon.
