ITHACA, N.Y. — The women's squash team resumed its season after the intersession break on Saturday, suffering a 9-0 loss to three-time defending national champion Harvard at Belkin International Squash Courts.
Cornell (3-2, 0-2 Ivy League), which entered the week ranked eighth in the country by the College Squash Association, was defeated in three games in each of the nine scoring matches – though
Hannah Scherl forced a fourth game in the exhibition 10th match. In terms of total points for the Big Red, seniors Michele Garceau,
Margaux Losty and
Charlotte Knaggs led the way with 17 apiece.
Top-ranked Harvard (2-0, 2-0) stretched its overall winning streak to 40 matches, dating back to Jan. 11, 2015. The Crimson has won all 25 meetings against Cornell in the programs' histories.
The Big Red now turns its attention to a pivotal match at noon Sunday against Dartmouth (4-1, 0-1 entering Saturday's match against Columbia). The Big Green is ranked 10th in the country and the Big Red is currently aligned for the eighth and final berth into the Howe Cup – which is the 'A' flight of the College Squash Association's national championships.
