ITHACA, N.Y. – The Cornell men's swimming and diving team has trained all season for this moment, as the Big Red is ready to compete at the 2022 Ivy League Men's Swimming and Diving Championships on Feb. 23-26 at Princeton's DeNunzio Pool in Princeton, N.J.

The championship slate will kick off on Wednesday at 6 p.m., with the evening's action featuring the finals of the 200 medley and 800 freestyle relays. The next three days of the meet will follow a consistent format, with prelims scheduled for 11 a.m. and finals following at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

The 1-meter diving competition will take place on Thursday, with prelims slated for 1:30 p.m. and finals following in the evening. The 3-meter event will be split over Friday and Saturday, as prelims will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday with finals following in the evening session on Saturday.

Supporters of the Big Red who can't be in attendance and wish to follow along from home will have multiple ways to keep up with all the action. The meet will be broadcast on ESPN+, and live results will also be provided. ESPN+ is available to fans in the U.S. for $6.99/month or $69.99/year (http://plus.espn.com/). A similar international platform at the same price point is available for fans outside of the U.S., featuring both live and archived games.

Cornell enters Ivies with a 2-7 (0-7 Ivy) record and on the hunt to knock off a number of its Ivy League foes that it swam very closely during the dual season, including Dartmouth (159.50-138.50), Columbia (167-133), and Brown (186-114). The Big Red are coming off of an Ivy League Championship in 2020 that saw Cornell finish sixth, ahead of seventh-place Penn and eighth-place Dartmouth.

The Big Red is poised for strong performances in various events, with seniors Jake Lawson and Ricardo Martinez, along with juniors Paige daCosta and Jacob Bass, as just a few of the faces to watch in the pool. All four swimmers bring invaluable experience to the championship roster, all having competed at the 2020 Ivy League Championships. Graduate student Van Cates adds further experience for the Big Red. Competing in their first Ivy League Championship meet, freshmen Joseph Gurski and Sebastian Wolff are two of the newcomers that have the potential to make a splash for the Big Red after strong first-seasons of competition for Cornell.

The Big Red's diving core has been nothing short of impressive all season. Senior Jameson Crandell will show his fellow Cornell divers the championship ropes, as sophomores Matthew Warren and Gabe Hartmann and freshman Soodong Kim prepare for their first Ivy appearances.

The 2022 Ivy League Men's Swimming and Diving Championships will officially get underway on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
