ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell seniors closed their home career with a bang as the Big Red women's swimming and diving team topped Columbia 162.5-137.5 on Saturday afternoon at Teagle Pool to improve to 3-5 (2-3 Ivy) on the season.
The Big Red, which had lost 16 straight to the Lions prior to its 2015 dual meet win at home, won 10-of-14 swimming events and 11 events overall in picking up its second Ivy victory of the year.
Kimmy Vitek (283.27) edged out teammate Jackie Real (281.48) to lead a 1-2-3-4 Big Red sweep in the three-meter event and Real was the top finisher for Cornell on the 1-meter springboard in third (245.47).
The Lions got off to a good start with a win in the 200 medley relay, but it was all Big Red from there on.
Currie Murch Elliot (10:22.11) led a 1-2-3 Big Red sweep in the 1,000 free and twin sister Billy touched first in the 100 free (1:04.20).
Hannah Bollinger won the 200 free (1:52.89),
Helen Hsu topped the field in the 100 back (57.08) and
Jordan Silbert touched first in the 200 fly (2:04.32), all by comfortable margins.
Ellie Belilos won a pair of races, capturing both the 50 (23.94) and 100 free (52.31) and
Tessa Wilson's 2:04.60 won the 200 back. Rounding out the individual winners was
Micaela Luders in the 500 free (5:03.65), while Hsu,
Cari Stankaitis, Belilos and
Sarah Baturka took first in the 400 free relay to cap the winning weekend.
Cornell will visit St. Bonaventure for its final non-conference dual meet on Friday, Jan. 20 beginning with diving at 12:30 p.m. and continuing with 3:30 p.m. swimming.
