Eldon Lindsay/Cornell Athletics
FULLERTON, Calif. – The Cornell women's track and field started its spring break trip to California on a strong note. The Big Red competed in a trio of meets on both Friday and Saturday. Cornell had four members competing in the Stanford Invite on Friday, while one member competed at UCLA's Bob Larsen Distance Carnival. Then on Saturday, the Big Red took first place at Cal State Fullerton's Titan Team Challenge.

Stanford Invitational
Four Cornell women competed with distinction at the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto, one of the premiere distance running competitions in the United States. Racing in the Invitational section of the 3000m steeplechase, senior co-captain Briar Brumley and sophomore Gabrielle Orie had impressive season-openers. The Invitational field was loaded and the early pace was brisk. Brumley was impressive in placing ninth overall in 10:18.14, which is in the top five of the NCAA East Region. Orie had a very strong race as well, closing very well to place 11th in 10:24.16, which is in the top-10 of the NCAA East Region.

The Big Red also had a pair of strong efforts in the flat races.  Senior Eve Glasergreen had a 19 second personal best to move to #8 all-time in Cornell's storied history in the 5K, running 16:25.36.  She executed her race extremely well, clicking off mile splits of 5:16, 5:15, and 5:14 and her methodical approach yielded an impressive fifth place finish in a huge field of 30 women.  And earlier in the evening in the 1500, senior co-captain Annie Taylor was out well before placing eleventh in 4:30.80, an ECAC qualifier.
