4/29/2011 12:09:19 PM

ITHACA, N.Y. – Both the No. 17 Cornell women's rowing team and the No. 5 men's lightweight rowing team will compete on the Cayuga Lake Inlet this Saturday, April 30. The women will battle Dartmouth for the Parents' Cup, while crews from Bucknell, Buffalo, Duke, Iowa and Rhode Island will also be competing in various races throughout the day. Like the women, the men will also take on the No. 3 Big Green in the Baggaley Cup Regatta. Racing will begin at 9:00 a.m., with the final race of the day slated to begin at 4:00 p.m. The winners of the women's morning races will advance to the top race in the afternoon, while second place finishers in the morning will advance to a consolation final.

NOTE TO SPECTATORS
Due to the ongoing Boathouse Renovation and Expansion Project, there will be NO PARKING at the John Collyer Boat House. Spectators are asked to watch from Cass Park and to park on that side of the Cayuga Lake Inlet.

Women's Rowing Preview
THE PARENT'S CUP: The Parent's Cup was created in 2000 in recognition of the parents' support and is presented to the winner of the Dartmouth-Cornell regatta. Though first presented in 2000, the Cup was made retroactive to 1998.

THE SERIES HISTORY: Dartmouth has won the Parents' Cup eight times since 1998 and is currently riding a five-year winning streak in the series. Cornell has won five Parents' Cups, with its last victories coming in back-to-back seasons in 2004 and 2005.

UP NEXT: The Big Red will have nearly two weeks to prepare for the Eastern Sprints, slated for Sunday, May 15 on the Cooper River in Pennsauken, N.J.

Men's Lightweight Preview
THE BAGGALEY BOWL: The Baggaley Cup was placed in competition in 1964 in honor of Bruce Baggaley, a Dartmouth lightweight crew coach and oarsman, by his 1964 lightweight crew, and is awarded to the winner of the varsity race between Cornell and Dartmouth.

THE SERIES HISTORY: Through 2010, Cornell has won the Baggaley Cup 28 times and Dartmouth has won it 19 times. The Big Red has won the last three Baggaley Bowls, and five of the last seven, with the Big Green winning back-to-back in 2006 and 2007.

UP NEXT: The Big Red will have two weeks off to prepare for Eastern Sprints, held Sunday, May 15 on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass.
