ITHACA, N.Y. – The Cornell men's track and field team split to two different meets this weekend. Some members of the team competed in the Virginia Challenge at Lannigan Field in Charlottesville, Virginia, while others participated in the Larry Ellis Invitational at Weaver Stadium in Princeton, N.J.
At the Virginia the Big Red competed in solely field events.

In the long jump, sophomore
Sam Oravec shattered his PR with a leap of 7.41m (24-3.75 ft.) for sixth place. His previous best was 7.14m (23-5.25 ft.). The Big Red also had two other top-10 finishers in senior
James Seaton (9th, 7.27m/23-10.25 ft.), who set a seasonal best and freshman
Tony Bridges (10th, 7.26m/23-10 ft.), who also set a new PR.
In the triple jump invite section, Seaton placed fifth with a mark of 14.96m (49-1 ft.), while freshman
Darius Scott took eighth in 14.81m (48-7.25 ft.). In the normal section, Bridges took fourth place with a mark of 14.61m (47-11.5 ft.).
Junior
Malick Diomande tied for third in the 1.98m (6-6 ft.) in the high jump.
In the pole vault invite section, senior
Andrew Barlow placed eighth in clearing 4.82m (15-9.75 ft.). Freshman
Johannes Stromhaug hit the same mark in the normal section the day prior to place fourth.
Sophomore
Zeke Cohen had a toss of 57.02m (187-1 ft.) in the hammer throw, which was good for eighth place. Additionally freshman
Ian Frost hit a mark of 54.06m (177-4 ft.), which placed 12th.
At the Larry Ellis Invite, the Big Red partook in primarily events on the track, though there was some field performers.

Freshman
Alex Mocarski claimed first in the 1500m unseeded final with a time of 3:54.90, a new personal best. Cornell also had two other top-25 finishers with sophomore
Mars Bishop (4:00.91) taking 18th place and freshman
Marek Nowak (4:02.40) placing 24th.
The men's 4x400m relay of Billy Powers,
Nick Comly,
Myles Solan and
Maxwell Comer took 10th place with a time of 3:26.07. In the individual 400m final Comly ran a 50.05, while Solan was close behind in 50.23.
In the 800m elite final, senior
Brandon Phillips ran a 1:53.40 for, which placed 26th. Also racing was sophomore
Jonathan Plass (40th, 1:54.75.), sophomore
Solomon Lawrence (48th, 1:55.85) and junior
Shane Goosby (51st, 1:55.96). In the unseeded final freshman
Marek Nowak had the top result for the Big Red with a time of 1:57.68, which placed 22nd.
Freshman
Paris Howland took eighth place in the long jump with a personal best leap of 7.02m (23-0.5 ft.) on his first jump. In the triple jump sophomore
Tumani Edwards placed fifth with a mark of 14.26m (46-9.5 ft.).
Cornell has two meets slated for next week before it delves into the championship portion of its outdoor schedule. Cornell will compete in the Penn Relays from April 25-27 before hosting the Big Red Invitational on April 28.
