AKRON, Ohio -- The Cornell women's swimming team continued to have strong early season swims as part of a fourth-place finish at the Akron Zippy Invitational on Sunday afternoon at Ocasek Natatorium.
Micaela Luders was the top Big Red finisher in the 1,650 free with a fifth-place finish (17:04.23, No. 8 all-time at Cornell), part of a 5-6-7 effort for Cornell.
Lizzy Thayer was sixth (17:12.31) and
Currie Murch Elliot placed seventh (17:13.47).
Cornell had three A finalists in the 200 back and placed 6-7-8, with
Billy Murch Elliot first among the group in 2:01.29.
Helen Hsu (2:02.00) and
Tessa Wilson (2:02.00) joined
Isabel Obregon (10th, 2:02.30),
Hannah Bollinger (14th, 2:03.78) and Luders (24th, 2:07.24) in scoring in the event.
Cari Stankaitis was Cornell's lone top 10 finisher in the 100 free (10th, 51.04), though
Shoshana Swell (16th, 51.96), Bollinger (17th, 51.91),
Ellie Belilos (17th, 51.91) and
Chloe Mikles (20th, 52.17) each finished between 16th and 20th.
Freshman
Cape Murch Elliot won the C final of the 200 breast (2:22.53) and was the lone scorer in the event.
The 200 butterfly had four swimmers compete in the B final, with
Jordan Silbert (10th, 2:05.78, No. 10 all-time at Cornell),
Isabelle Cecere (12th, 2:07.79),
Currie Murch Elliot (14th, 2:07.54) and
Isabel Obregon (15th, 2:08.65) also posting strong early season times.
The Big Red closed the meet with a fourth place finish in the 400 free relay, as Hsu, Swell, Stankaitis and Bollinger touched in 3:24.53 (No. 4 all-time at Cornell). The B team of
Anna Elling,
Tessa Wilson,
Louisa Hoffman and
Billy Murch Elliot was 10th in 3:31.29.
Over on South Hill,
Sarah Baturka won the 100 IM competition in 57.88, while
Laurel Kiselis won the 100 free (51.71), just ahead of Baturka in third (52.96). Abby Benkert also scored with a sixth-place finish in 53.53.
AKRON, Ohio -- The Cornell women's swimming and diving team made more early season adjustments to the Big Red record book and ended day two of the Akron Zippy Invitational in fourth place among 10 teams with 885 points.
The Big Red placed fifth in the 200 medley relay in a season-best time of 1:43.49 (fifth-fastest time in Cornell history) on the strength of swims by
Helen Hsu,
Cape Murch Elliot,
Billy Murch Elliot and
Cari Stankaitis.
The twin sister tandem of
Currie Murch Elliot (third, 4:22.45) and
Billy Murch Elliot (fourth, 4:22.47) finished within .02 seconds of each other in the 400 IM, joining
Jordan Silbert (sixth, 4:25.19 - No. 5 all-time at Cornell) in the top six.Â
Hsu finished on the podium with a third in the 100 butterfly (55.32, No. 3 all-time at Cornell), while
Isabelle Cecere also scored in the event, placing 15th in 57.27. Hsu also won the B final in the 100 back (55.70) to take ninth, followed closely behind by
Tessa Wilson in 11th (56.19, No. 5 all-time at Cornell).
Jackie Real was a finalist in the 3-meter platform, finishing eighth with a best score of 233.20.
Cornell finished the day with a third in the 800 free relay on the swims of Bollinger, Mikles, Luders and
Anna Elling. The foursome touched in 7:32.67 (No. 6 all-time at Cornell), while the B team of
Ellie Belilos,
Rachel Hansen,
Currie Murch Elliot and
Jordan Silbert was fifth in 7:34.58 (No. 8 all-time at Cornell).
Hannah Bollinger made the A final in the 200 free and finished fourth overall in 1:51.15, with
Chloe Mikles (eighth, 1:52.93),
Micaela Luders (13th, 1:51.90),
Anna Elling (won the C final, 17th in 1:52.88) and Cecere (23rd, 1:54.36) also scoring.
Billy Murch Elliot took third in the 100 breast (1:03.67, No. 3 all-time at Cornell) and younger sister Cape was eighth (1:03.94, No. 4 all-time at Cornell) while making the A final.Â
A number of swimmers competed in the Ithaca Bomber Invitational on Saturday.
Laurel Kiselis won the 200 free (1:52.91) and Abby Benkert was second in the event in 1:54.36, while
Sarah Baturka claimed the championship in the 100 back in 56.53 (eighth all-time at Cornell), with Benkert placing seventh (1:00.09) and Kiselis taking ninth (1:00.89).Â

Cari Stankaitis and
Ellie Belilos ranking third on the school's all-time list.
Micaela Luders placed sixth in the 500 free with a best time of 4:59.78 in the prelims.
Hannah Bollinger also made the A final, placing eighth with a best time of 4:58.95.
Lizzy Thayer (18th, 5:03.74), Anna Eling (19th, 5:04.08) and
Isabel Obregon (21st, 5:04.75) also scored in the event.
Billy and
Currie Murch Elliot each made the A final in the 200 IM, placing fourth (2:02.89 - just .17 off her own school record) and eighth (2:05.20, sixth all-time at Cornell), respectively. Both
Jordan Silbert (23rd, 2:06.50) and
Cape Murch Elliot (24th, 2:07.03) put points on the board for the Big Red.
Stankaitis won the B final in the 50 free with a 23.39 in her final swim of the night. Belilos was 15th (23.60, sixth all-time at Cornell), while Swell (19th, 23.95) also scored.
In the 1-meter diving competition, Jackie Real (sixth, 232.55 - fifth all-time at Cornell) and Kimmy Vitek (seventh, 242.75 - third all-time at Cornell) combined for 47 teams points on the day.

Cornell brought just three swimmers and three divers to the Ithaca Bomber Invite on day one of the meet. Abby Benkert took a strong second in the 500 free (5:03.85) to lead off the meet, followed by a win for
Sarah Baturka in the 200 IM in 2:03.08 - the second-fastest time in school history.
Laurel Kiselis (second, 23:93) finished on the podium in the 50 freeÂ
In diving action, Cornell placed 6-7-8 in the 3-meter to posted 69 key team points.
Victoria Chan (409.30),
Emma Bryan (393.10) and
Erika LaCasse (389.65) were bunched tightly together on the platform.
