PRINCETON, N.J – For the second time this season, the Cornell lightweight rowing team competed in a fall regatta, and for the second time this season the program came away with a gold medal, as the varsity eight bested the field at the 2018 Princeton Chase, held Sunday morning on Lake Carnegie.
 
The Big Red placed three boats in the lightweight varsity eight competition and came away with three top-eight finishes, including the gold medal finish by the Cornell A boat in a time of 13:10.182, besting second place Princeton by nearly five seconds. The Cornell B boat took sixth (13:37.728) while the Cornell C crew placed eighth (13:42.926).
 
In the varsity four competition, the Cornell A boat led at the split but finished third behind Penn and Princeton, crossing the line in 14:50.274. The Cornell B crew took fifth overall (14:57.182).
 
In the freshmen heavyweight/lightweight race, the Big Red placed fifth overall (14:01.940), but second among lightweight boats behind only Delaware.
 
Cornell conclude the fall season this upcoming Saturday, Nov. 3 when it hosts the Cornell Autumn Classic on the Cayuga Lake Inlet.
