A wing on Cornell's excellent hockey teams from 1968-71, he was tri-captain of the 1971 squad. He played in all 85 games during his three-year career in which the Big Red compiled a record of 78-7, won three straight Ivy League titles, captured two ECAC championships, and won the NCAA crown--with a 29-0 mark in 1970, which is the only undefeated, untied season in modern college hockey. McCutcheon was named to the ECAC All-East team and the All-Ivy first unit in 1971. He tied for the Ivy League scoring crown with 30 points his junior year, while leading the Big Red in goals scored. He ranks sixth in career goals with 59 among the three-season scorers, while totaling 126 points. An excellent midfielder, he won his numerals as a member of the freshman lacrosse team in 1968. Following graduation, he signed a contract to play pro hockey with the Detroit Red Wings of the NHL. The Toronto, Ont. Native was head hockey coach at Elmira College.
