He was a halfback on the 1953-54-55 football teams, with the ’53 team winning the Ivy championship and the ’54 club tying for the title. In three years, he rushed for 1,181 yards on 225 carries; caught 36 passes for 405 yards; ran back 19 punts for a 12.1 average; scored 16 touchdowns for 96 points; and was 37x35.3 as a punter. He led the nation in pass interceptions with seven in 1954. As a junior and senior he was an honorable mention selection on the UP and AP All-East teams, and in ’53 he received AP All-Ivy honorable mention honors as well. He was captain of the gridders in 1955. He lettered in basketball in 1954-55 and was an outfielder in baseball as a junior. He was only the second Cornellian to win varsity letters in football, basketball and baseball in one year. As an undergraduate he lived in Athens, Pa.
