He was instrumental in the Cornell track team's three Heptagonal championships -- indoors in 1977 and 1978 and outdoors in 1978. He was a four-time Heps champion, winning the 440 indoors in 1978, setting a meet record; the outdoor 200 in 1977 and 1979, and the outdoor 400 in 1978. He was a member of the 400-meter relay which won three outdoor Heps titles, earned All-America honors by placing fourth at the US Track & Field Federation meet in 1977, and won its event at the 1978 outdoor IC4As, setting Cornell and IC4A records. Besides being a member of the winning relay at the IC4As, he won the 200 and finished fourth in the 100. He made it to the semis of the 200 at the '78 outdoor NCAA championships. He also ran on the winning mile relay at the '78 outdoor Heps.
