He was an Eastern Intercollegiate Baseball League and All-Ivy first-team selection as a pitcher in 1977, when Cornell won its first EIBL title in 37 years and made its first appearance in the NCAA playoffs. In addition, he was named to the All-Northeast Regional second team and to the first team on the Upper New Y ork Association of College Baseball Coaches all-star squad. He had a 4-0 record and an earned run average of 2.45 in league play and topped the Cornell pitching staff with an overall record of 10-2 and an ERA of 2.49. He set Cornell seasonal records for wins (10), complete games (10) and innings (101.3). In 1976, he pitched Cornell's first-ever perfect game and received EIBL honorable mention. He was named team MVP as a senior.
