He was a three-time Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association champion, winning the 115-pound title in 1912 and the 125-pound title in 1913 and 1914.  Considered one of the finest technical wrestlers in the first half century, he never lost a bout in three years and led his team to three straight EIWA titles.  He served as captain of the team his senior year.
