An outstanding boxer, he was the University’s flyweight champion four straight years. He was a member of the U.S. boxing team at the 1924 Olympic Games, and in 1923 he was runner-up in the National Amateur Boxing Championships. While Lazarus was best known for his ring exploits at Cornell, he also played basketball and soccer for the Arts College teams and was a member of the freshman baseball squad. He was president of the Cornell boxing club for three years. Lazarus was an insurance broker in New York City at the time of his death in 1943.
