Hall of Fame
A follower of Cornell athletics since his undergraduate days, he has attended literally thousands of athletic contests. In addition to the many gifts of financial support that he provides, he has made innumerable gifts of his time and energy to various programs. For many years he handled the business affairs of the sprint (lightweight) football program. In 1996, the William F. Fuerst Jr. '39 Rehabilitation Room was dedicated in Schoellkopf Memorial Hall. A firm believer in scholarship support, he established the first student worker award at the Cornell University Library. He has served as an adviser to generations of Beta Sigma Rho fraternity brothers. He is a life member of the University Council and a foremost benefactor of Cornell. Whenever he heard about a need for equipment or financial support, he helped the coaches meet those needs. He was the recipient of one of the Frank H. T. Rhodes Exemplary Alumni Service Awards in 2000.
