Baseball coach 1900-04. Compiled 5-year record of 65-61-1with three winning seasons. Successful player-manager of Detroit Tigers (1907-20); Tigers won 3 straight American League pennants under his direction (1907-08-09). While at Detroit, he coached the immortal Ty Cobb. Also played pro ball w/Louisville, Baltimore, Brooklyn and Philadelphia. Enshrined in National Baseball Hall of Fame at Cooperstown (as shortstop w/Detroit); inducted 1945. Was a student in Cornell's Law School while coaching at Cornell.
