She was Cornell’s No.1 singles player as a junior and senior. The New York state singles champion in 1975, she placed fourth in the state tournament in 1976 and was runner-up in 1977. Captain of the team as a senior, she compiled an illustrious 35-3 career record in singles play. Johnson is a graduate of the Prairie School and a native of Racine, Wis.
