Affectionately dubbed "The Beast" by Cornell fans, Horrigan was a defensive lineman on the football team from 1973-75. An All-America honorable mention pick in 1975, he was a first-team All-Ivy selection as a senior and All-Ivy honorable mention pick his junior year. Horrigan was elected team co-captain of the 1975 squad. He also lettered in wrestling as a heavyweight during the 1975-76 season.
