Kane was a two-time All-Ivy selection and a two-time All-America first team pick as defenseman in 1977 and 1978, helping Cornell to national titles in 1976 and 1977. He twice won the Schmeisser Memorial Cup as nation's outstanding defenseman in Division I. Kane was a four-year starter and his fine defensive play shut down some of the best attackmen ever to play the game. He served as tri-captain in 1978 and was selected as starter for the U.S. National team which won the World Games championship in 1982.
