Minekime earned an All-America finish in 1968 after placing fifth at nationals at 177 pounds. He pinned two of four opponents en route to the EIWA title that season, knocking off top-seeded Jim Harter of Army in the finals. Minekime completed his three-year career with a 26-12 overall record, including a 20-3 mark with six falls and seven bonus wins, in his senior season. The two-year letter winner was elected team captain in 1968.
