Cornell University Athletics

Donovan was an aggressive halfback for the Big Red during the late 20’s and early 30’s. He led the squad to a 5-2 record during his senior season, while collecting First Team All-America honors. He was also a member of the varsity basketball program. He went on to Cornell’s Law School and also helped Head Coach Nicky Bawlf and Assistant Coach Ortner in coaching both the Varsity and Freshman squads while completing his degree. Donovan became one of the youngest members of the Canandaigua Bar Association when he was appointed the assistant city judge in December of 1934.
