Perry was a three-year starter and a two-year captain for the Big Red during the late-1930’s. A versatile player, he was inserted throughout the lineup during his career on East Hill. In 1938 he primarily served on the Cornell backline, earning Second Team All-American selection. The following season he played an attacking role, as the Cornell’s primary outlet in the offensive end. He garnered First Team All-American selection, as the team rebounded for a 3-3-2 campaign. In 1940, he moved back in the formation to a central attacking midfielder, earning Second Team All-America honors.
