DiStasio was named honorable mention All-America by the International Press in 1946 and earned an invitation to compete at the East-West All-Star game on New Year's Day 1946. A four-year starter and letter winner, DiStasio also was a four-year swimmer for the Big Red - including finishing third at the Intercollegiate Swimming Championships at Michigan, and was the school's light heavyweight boxing champion in 1946, winning every bout he fought.
