After playing sparingly in his first two years, David Mitchell became one of the most dominant offensive players in the nation during his junior and senior seasons. A two-time All-American (honorable mention in 2006; second team in 2007) and two-time first-team All-Ivy pick, Mitchell was also a Tewaaraton Trophy nominee as a senior. He became the 32nd player in Cornell history to reach the 100-point plateau, (93-19--112) a feat that’s even more impressive considering that he entered the 2006 campaign with just four career points. During his career, Mitchell matched or outscored the opponent’s offensive performance five times. During the 2007 season, Mitchell scored five goals against both Dartmouth and Penn as the Big Red defeated the Big Green, 17-3 and the Quakers, 20-5. During the 2006 campaign, Mitchell registered eight goals against Binghamton (W, 16-3), three goals against Army (W, 13-1) and three goals vs. Lehigh (W, 12-3). Following graduation he was the eighth overall pick in the first round of the Major League Lacrosse draft, taken by the Boston Cannons, and the 25th overall pick (second round) by the National Lacrosse League’s Philadelphia Wings.Â
