One of the greatest hockey players ever for Cornell, Nethery virtually rewrote the Cornell record books. His records include all-time career scoring (91-180—271); season points (80); seasons (60) and career assists (180); and he tied the school record for most game points (8). In addition, he set two ECAC records (career assists and career points). A two-time All-America first team selection, he was named to the All-Ivy and All-East first squad three straight years as a forward. He was named Player of the Year in ECAC Division I in 1978. A co-captain of the team as a junior and senior, Nethery was voted team MVP all three of his varsity seasons. In 1980 he was named to the ECAC All-Decade first team. He played for the New York Rangers organization for three years, including a brief stint with the NHL parent team. A native of Burlington, Ont., he played hockey for the Davos, Switzerland elite team.
