As a defenseman in lacrosse, Schoales was named to the All-America first team in 1929. He won three letters in football and one in lacrosse, and was a substitute on the hockey team in 1928 and 1929. Schoales was a standout end on the football team from 1926-28 and captained the squad as a senior. Â He participated in track as a freshman. He was a member emeritus of the University Council and a former trustee (1966-71). He was awarded of the Cornell Medal in 1971. A career investment banker and specialist in off-shore oil and gas exploration, he has twice been decorated by Queen Elizabeth II for his service to Australian finance and business.Â
