Shriver was a two-time honorable mention All-American on attack in 1954 and 1955, helping the Big Red to a record of 17-6-1 over those two seasons.  He led the 1954 squad  in both goals (33) and assists (27), while ranking second on the 1955 squad with 34 goals and adding 20 assists for a two-year total of 117 points. He served as team captain in 1955 and was invited to play for the North in the annual North/South All-Star game.
