Harmon was a first-team All-Ivy tailback and league Player of the Year in 1983. He earned second-team All-America honors from the Associated Press in 1983 and was honorable mention pick the previous year. The Ancient Eight's Sophomore of the Year, he was honorable mention All-Ivy in 1981. As a senior, Harmon was named team MVP and was the Ithaca Journal and the Cornell Sun Athlete of Year. Harmon graduated ranked second on Cornell's all-time rushing list (3,074 yards) and areer rushes (546). During his three years, Harmon had 14 games of over 100 yards rushing. His 72 receptions, 28 touchdowns, 174 points and 3,800 yards all-purpose yards ranked second in those respective career categories at Cornell. The two-time Academic All-American led the Ivy League in rushing and scoring in '83. Harmon was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers and played in a Super Bowl.
