A native of Ithaca, Versluis was a star striker for the Big Red during the early 1930’s. He played a pivotal role in helping the program to a 14-7-4 record over his four seasons, including finishing as League runner-up in 1933 and an undefeated 5-0-2 mark for the program’s first undefeated season to capture a League title in 1934. He was the squads leading scorer each of the final two seasons, scoring a career-high four goals in a victory over Hamilton during the championship season. Versluis was selected a Second Team All-American in 1934.
