Blose won varsity letters in track in 1942 and 1943, and in football in 1943. He also earned JV letters in football in '41 and '42. He was a halfback and punter in football. Blose scored 11 touchdowns in 1943 to rank third in the East in scoring with 66 points. He received Associated Press All-America honorable mention accolades in 1943. He was a shot put specialist in track, placing second at the outdoor Heptagonal championships in 1943.
