In 1948 and 1949, his brilliant quarterbacking and passing helped tremendously in Cornell’s record – 16 wins in 18 games and two Ivy championships. He passed for 1,678 yards in his three-year varsity career, including a 10-for-10 performance with three touchdowns against Princeton in 1947 when the Big Red won, 28-21, in a come-from-behind victory. He was selected to the Associated Press All-Ivy second team and received honorable mention AP All-America honors, in addition to being named to the AP All-East team and Collier’s All-East squad. He played in the East-West game his senior year and was heralded as one of the outstanding players of the game.
