Cummins was an Associated Press honorable mention All-American as a defensive back in 1967. The three-time All-Ivy pick was a first-teamer in 1967, a second-team pick in 1968 and an honorable mention pick in 1969. He earned the team's Cornell Football Coaches Award in 1969 as most valuable player that season. The three-year letter winner ranked in the top five all-time in longest punt return and longest interception return.
