Elli joined teammates Hugh Fates, Elliot Thompson and Francis Righter in what is the biggest All-American class in the history of the Cornell program in 1921. He teamed with Righter to form the best one-two attacking punch in the early history of the program. He was named a First Team All-American selection in 1921.
