Towers played a major role in founding the fledgling Cornell men’s soccer program, which celebrated its inaugural season in 1908. His leadership and passion for developing the young program undeniable, he served as team captain during all four years of his varsity career. Working out of the midfield, he injected life into Cornell’s attack. Towers was one of the Big Red’s top creators in the attacking third and was a primary taker of set-pieces. He helped the program to its first ever victory, a 2-1 triumph over Harvard in the final game of the 1909 season. He was named a Second Team All-American selection at midfield at the conclusion of the season.
