As a defenseman in lacrosse, Cassidy was named to the All-America first team in 1923 and third team in 1924. Captain of the team as a senior, he helped the 1923 team to a 6-2 record and a tie for the league championship. He was a fullback on the undefeated football teams of 1921, 1922, and ’23 that compiled an amazing three-year record of 24-0. The 1922 backfield of Eddie Kaw, George Pfann, Floyd Ramsey and Cassidy ranks with the truly great backfields of all time. Cassidy was helpful as a receiver, deadly on pass defense and effective as a ball carrier. After graduation he served as Attorney General for the Territory of Hawaii and U.S. Commissioner after Hawaii became a state.
