Jaeger was a two-time All-Ivy and two-time All-America first team selection as a midfielder in lacrosse. Over two seasons, he registered  38 goals and added 22 assists. He was also the team's top faceoff man, winning 103-of-440 draws. He helped the 1977 team to win an NCAA championship and to a runner-up finish in 1978. Following graduation, he was selected to play for the U.S. in 1978 World Championships in England. Jaeger was also a two-year member of the football team, leading the team in rushing as a tailback in 1977, despite playing just seven games due to injury. He transferred to Cornell from Nassau CC.Â
