Girolamo was an honorable mention All-American pick by the Associated Press in 1948 as a back. The two-year letter winner captained the 1949 Big Red squad that went 8-1. He carried the ball 58 times for 313 yards and three touchdowns and caught a 25-yard pass in 1948. His career numbers were 66 carries for 335 yards and three scores.
