Vogel won letters in lacrosse in 1949, 1951 and 1952 and in lightweight football in 1949, 1950 and 1951. He was co-captain in both sports as a senior. He was a midfielder on the 1949 lacrosse team and was a goaltender in 1951 and in 1952, earning honorable mention All-American accolades in his senior season. He was the recipient of the Lawrence Van Buren Woodworth Memorial Award, given to the lacrosse player who exemplifies competitive spirit and fair play. Vogel was one of two goalies for the North on the North-South All-Star Game. He was also a guard in lightweight football. After graduation, he was the first string goalie for the Mt. Washington Lacrosse Club in Baltimore for several years. Â
