Jaklitsch was an All-American and All-Ivy League selection in both 1972 and 1973 for the men's squash team, despite having never played the sport before his arrival on East Hill. Also a three-time letterwinner with the men's team, Jaklitsch emerged as one of the country's top squash competitors by his senior year. In 1973, he anchored the Big Red from the No. 1 spot and was ranked anywhere from fourth to eighth in the country en route to First Team All-America honors. He led Cornell to a program-record nine victories that year — the most the squad saw between its inception in 1956 and 1983. Jaklitsch was named to the All-America Second Team in 1972.
