Preschel was a three-year letterman for the Big Red during the mid-50’s. Blessed with a great scoring touch, he alternated between right wing back and center forward during his career. He tallied two goals during his first year as a primary player in 1953. The following season he pumped in two goals and one assist. He was named team captain heading into the 1955 season. Now playing exclusively in a striker role, he tied for the team lead with four goals, helping the team to a 4-5 record and a 2-4 mark in its first Ivy League season. He was named an Honorable Mention All-American at the conclusion of the 1955 season.
