An honorable mention All-America selection as a junior, the two-year starter in goal was an honorable mention All-Ivy pick as a senior in backstopping the Big Red to its first NCAA Championship since 1977. He closed his varsity career with a 26-5 record in goal (nine all-time at Cornell in wins) and ranked in the top 20 in saves (11th, 382), save percentage (14th, .540) and goals against average (13th, 10.78). As a senior, Knust posted an 18-1 record and led the Ivy League and sat 24th nationally in goals against average (10.21). He was a three-time Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week and earned USA Lacrosse National Player of the Week honors once. His 223 saves as a senior ranked third in a single season, with his 18 victories atop the charts.
