Blatz was a three year starter and two year captain for the Big Red during the early 40’s. The squads leading goals scorer over his final two seasons, he was lauded for his slick dribbling and playmaking skills on the right forward flank. He helped lead resurgence as the Big Red posted a 9-5-2 mark during his final two seasons. He was named a Second Team All-American in 1941.
