McMahan was an All-America third-team selection as a freshman forward in 1983, in addition to earning All-East first-team and All-Ivy second-team honors. She was team co-MVP in 1983. McMahan was then an All-Ivy first-team pick and was named to the All-Northeast team in 1984. She was co-captain of the team in 1985. She played in the first three games of the '85 season but was forced out of action with a career-ending injury. She set Cornell seasonal marks for goals scored (11) and points (25), and set career records for goals (21) and points (46).
