A midfielder, Elliot was named second-team All-America by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America/Umbro Division I as a senior, the first Cornellian to earn an All-America honor in men's soccer since Kurt Bettger in 1980. He was a two-time first-team All-New York state team selection (1995 and 1996) and two-time second-team All-Ivy pick (1995 and1996). Elliot ended his Cornell career with 18 assists and remains on school record books for season assists--10 in 1995 and six in 1996, and in season points scored (26 in 1995). He was part of the Big Red squad that played in two NCAA tournaments, in 1995 against Lafayette and 1996 against Rutgers. He was also part of the 1995 squad that co-shared the Ivy title with Brown. After graduation, Elliot played with the North Jersey Imperials of the U.S. Independent Soccer League in 1997, an affiliate of the New York/New Jersey MetroStars of Major League Soccer. He returned to Cornell as an assistant soccer coach in 1998, and served in that position for six years.
