Calcagni was named an honorable mention All-American by the Associated Press in 1943 as a tackle. He was a second-team All-East pick that year by the AP. He was drafted by the Boston Yanks in the 1944 NFL Dract. He previously played at Penn and was elected to serve as the Quakers team captain in 1943 before moving to Cornell as a marine trainee.
