Raab was a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-American, earning second team accolades in 1983 and third team honors in 1984. The Ivy League champion in the all-around and on the horizontal bars and vault as a senior and the pommel horse champ as a junior. He was a team co-captain in each of his final two seasons and was named the team's top gymnast as a senior. A four-time letter winner, he was part of Ivy League championship teams in each of his final three seasons.
