Leahy was an honorable mention All-American and a first-team All-Ivy defenseman for a Big Red squad that went 8-5 overall.  As a senior, he won four team awards – the Joe Philip Memorial Award, given annually to the player contributing most to the overall team effort; the Lawrence Van Buren Woodworth Memorial Award, given to the player who most exemplifies competitive spirit and fair play; the C.F. Morse Lacrosse Scholar-Athlete of the Year, given annually to the lacrosse player who combines best the physical attributes of the Spartan and the scholastic achievement of the Athenian; the J.E.B. Sportsmanship Award, given to the player who best combines the qualities of lacrosse ability, leadership, fairness, courteous relations and graceful acceptance of results on and off the playing field. A four-year letter winner, he served as team co-captain as a senior and was also an honorable mention All-Ivy selection in 1990. Following his senior season, Leahy was selected to play in the North-South All-Star game and was chosen to serve as the North team’s co-captain.
