Shuman was named a second-team CRCA All-American and a first-team Mid-Atlantic Region honoree following her senior season.  A three-year letter winner, Shuman spent the majority of the season rowing in either the fourth-seat or the six-seat of the varsity eight and helped the Big Red to a 7-5 record in head-to-head competition and a ninth place finish at the 1999 EAWRC Championship.
